History of the Moscow Mule
The Moscow Mule is a popular cocktail that was actually created in the U.S., not in Russia, as the name might suggest. In 1941 in Los Angeles, three entrepreneurs — John Martin (owner of the company promoting Smirnoff vodka), Jack Morgan (owner of the Cock’n Bull bar that produced ginger beer), and Rudy Kunert — met to discuss how to promote their products. Thus, the idea was born to mix vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice. The cocktail was served in a copper mug, which became its signature feature.
The cocktail gained popularity due to its refreshing qualities and became a cult drink. It’s considered a classic, known for its simplicity and ease of preparation.
