With no coffee in the classic recipe and the main focus on port, brandy, egg and powdered sugar, we’re talking about an old-school cocktail known as the Port Cobbler or similar. Here’s an updated recipe based on those ingredients:
Classic recipe:
1 fresh egg (yolk)
60 ml port wine
30 ml brandy
1 teaspoon of powdered sugar
Ice
Grated nutmeg (for decoration)
Instructions:
In a glass, mix the egg yolk with the powdered sugar until smooth.
Add the port and brandy, stir thoroughly.
Fill the glass with ice, stir again.
Garnish with grated nutmeg.
This cocktail gets its name due to its warm brown color, reminiscent of coffee, although the drink itself does not contain coffee. The rich flavor of the port wine and the softness of the egg give it a unique texture.
