“Cockroach” cocktail

The classic cocktail recipe for the cockroach uses absinthe, which is set on fire for a spectacular serving.

Ingredients:

  • Baileys Irish Cream – 20 ml
  • Sambuca – 20 ml
  • Absinthe – 20 ml

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the shot glass: Use a clean shot glass for serving.
  2. Layering the drink:
    • Pour the sambuca into the bottom of the glass.
    • Carefully add the Baileys on top using a bar spoon to keep the layers separate.
    • Finally, layer the absinthe on top using the same method.
  3. Flambé presentation:
    • Carefully ignite the top layer of absinthe with a lighter or a long match.
    • Let the flame burn for a few seconds for dramatic effect (exercise caution).
    • Extinguish the flame before drinking (by covering the glass or blowing it out). Some people drink it through a straw while it’s still burning, but this requires experience and extreme caution!

Safety Tips:

  • Ensure there are no flammable objects nearby.
  • Do not let the drink burn for too long to avoid overheating the glass or its contents.
