Bahama Mama – The Taste of a Caribbean Summer

History of the Cocktail

The Bahama Mama is a vibrant tropical cocktail that perfectly captures the spirit of the Caribbean islands. Its exact origins remain a mystery, but it is believed to have emerged in the mid-20th century, either in the Bahamas or in Florida’s resort bars.

One theory suggests that the cocktail was named after the famous Bahamian singer Ginny Mae (Bahama Mama), who was popular in the 1930s. However, it is more likely that the name reflects the laid-back, festive culture associated with the Bahamas.

Bahama Mama quickly became a favorite among tourists due to its rich tropical flavor and exotic blend of rum, coconut, and pineapple.
