Mai Tai is a classic tropical cocktail, perfect for a warm evening or seaside relaxation. Its name translates from Tahitian as “the best.” Here is the traditional recipe for this drink.
Ingredients:
- Light rum — 45 ml
- Dark rum — 20 ml
- Orange Curaçao liqueur — 15 ml
- Almond syrup (Orgeat) — 15 ml
- Fresh lime juice — 25 ml
- Ice (cubes or crushed)
- Mint sprig and pineapple slice (for garnish)
Steps:
- Fill a shaker with ice.
- Add light rum, dark rum, Orange Curaçao, Orgeat syrup, and lime juice.
- Shake the shaker well to mix the ingredients.
- Fill a glass (preferably a highball or rocks glass) with ice.
- Strain the mixture from the shaker into the glass.
- Garnish with a sprig of mint, a slice of pineapple, or lime.
Tips:
- For a richer taste, use quality rum and freshly squeezed lime juice.
- If Orgeat syrup is unavailable, you can substitute it with simple syrup, though the cocktail will lose some of its signature flavor.
Enjoy your drink! 🍹
